Pop-Shuvit, aka Shuvit, aka Shuv

blank-skateI received a request form Logan to add a tip on doing nollie back side shuvits and regular front side shuvits so her it goes. Rather then breaking down each trick separately I will address shuvits in general. There are two ways to do the trick, with pop, and with out pop. If you are looking to take these tricks down stairs, off of a drop, or into other tricks you need to learn them with pop. That said it may be easier to learn them with out popping.

Shuvits are all in the scooping action of the back foot. Every one feels comfortable with a different stance but if you start by setting up like you were going to do an ollie that would be a good start. The trick is to not have you front foot interfere with the rotation. The Front foot shouldn’t do any of the work on the take off; its purpose is in the landing by stopping the rotation. Do not use your front foot to rotate the board.

If you are having trouble getting the board to rotate correctly try standing stationary with your board in front of you and work on scooping the board with one foot. This may seem like a dumb exercise but it will help you to become familiar with how to scoop the board with one foot. Hope this helps,

FREE SKATEBOARD ENTRY FORM

Here is the final list

I just got the last entry this morning. The final list for the local 77 deck is shown below. We will be determining the winner via a random number generator later today. It took 20 days to fill the list.

More free skateboarding gear

If you are reading this I am sure you are here for a free board. That is great and I hope you win but the truth of the matter is not everyone can win every time. That said I don’t want to leave any one empty handed. Steve Cave from about.com has compiled a great list of other contests/giveaways offering free skateboarding gear that is worth checking out. If you keep doing the rounds entering each giveaway as it comes up you will greatly increase your chances of getting free goods. Good luck.

What do you want from this website…other then free stuff?

I would appreciate any input as to what you guys would like from this website. We are working at incorperating a forum, trick tip section, and possibly ramp plans but if I know what you guys would like to see I can get the ball rolling a bit more quickly. What do you like about other sites?
